- About the Topic: The price of bitcoin soared from a mere $987 to an astounding $19,343 in 2017. It fell to under $4,000 at the beginning of 2019, and is now on the rise again. What is bitcoin? Why has the price of bitcoin fluctuated so much over the past few years? Does it remain valuable today? William Luther will consider the fundamental value of bitcoin—and the various factors affecting it—in his upcoming talk.
- About the Speaker: William Luther is director of American Institute for Economic Research‘s Sound Money Project and Assistant Professor of Economics at Florida Atlantic University. His research focuses primarily on questions of currency acceptance.
